2018, has been great for me so far. At the end of 2017, I got a promotion and the beginning of 2018 has been full of getting to know a whole different bossed up side of myself. So when a friend invited me away for a weekend in Miami,  I pretty much knew my bomb ass deserved a weekend in the sun with my shoulders out!

Firsts things first, my schedule. I worked until 5:00 pm est Saturday evening and needed to return to work Tuesday afternoon by 2:00 pm est.

I know everyone may not have a schedule like that, but make it work for you, especially if traveling is really important. Make making a way your priority.

Thing 2, I flew into the Ft. Lauderdale airport. American Airlines offered flights that were $200+ cheaper than flying directly into the Miami airport and they also offered flights leaving Richmond at 7:30 pm.

Upon arrival, I was able to secure a Lyft with no problem and in 45 minutes I was in my hotel room, in Miami relaxing. The cost of that ride was $35.

Before traveling, I researched transportation online and found recommendations for a shuttle service at the FLL airport called Go Shuttle. The website stated the service was $25 and the shuttle runs until 2 am. The booth was easy to locate upon arrival and they were very helpful.

Due to the shuttle being a shared ride, and my energy being super low, Lyft was the better, faster option for me.

During my short time in Miami, I was able to visit The Museum of Ice Cream, soak up some sun and also try some wonderful vegetarian meals that really made my time away enjoyable.

The best tips ever:

*Don’t check a bag. Most airlines allow you to bring 1 carry on and 1 personal item onto the aircraft for no additional cost. Save time and money.

* Research is the key to a successful trip. Before any trip I recommend using Groupon to find activities for your place of travel. Often times I have missed out on activities because I waited until I got to my destination to find activities.
